If you’ve been taught your whole life to stay outside of your comfort zone, then where is it even safe to be anymore?
The nervous system has become so detached from that concept that it’s now unfamiliar territory. But the feeling always lingers in the back of your mind: we’re searching for a safe home that has never truly existed. If I strive, search, and work hard enough, will it finally appear before me?

 

 

The 2024 series “Comfort Zone” reflects precisely this journey.
Liisa Addi created her own safe environment — something she had lacked her whole life. Not by pushing harder or working more, but by taking a step back. She reflected on her inner world, which is vibrant yet soft. To find a safe environment — a nest of one’s own — one must learn to set boundaries with the outside world. Liisa realized that she could no longer let the outside world pull her along: look inward, and ask — what does your inner child actually need?

 

 

Liisa Addi uses symbolism in the form of our domestic animals, who, instinctively, understand the importance of a safe environment. When they feel good, they lie down in vulnerable positions, showing their trust. We too should surround ourselves with people to whom we dare show our sensitive sides — our emotions, our fears, our dreams.

 

 

We often forget that nature around us helps most in easing anxiety and fear. Fresh spring tulips, soft clouds, and garden greenery ground us. Nature holds so many colors, yet still, we find peace in it.

 

 

Liisa Addi’s “Comfort Zone” was presented in the guest apartment at Telliskivi 26. Guests were able to feel as though they were at home — moving from the hallway to the living room, kitchen, and bedrooms. A sense of recognition in the cozy atmosphere and comfortable presence.

 

 

Liisa believes that the right way to present artwork is just as important as the artworks themselves. Creating the right atmosphere supports the artist’s ideas and story, so that the guest can feel part of this colorful world. Often, it’s the colors that awaken our inner child — along with their magic and desires.
