Liisa Addi’s life has always revolved around one essential principle: to find a safe environment in which to create. Since her brain is highly sensitive to environmental influences, it’s crucial that the surroundings meet her needs. Understanding those needs has, of course, been a complex journey: one that has involved many therapists, travels, adventures, people, and hobbies. All in the pursuit of finding herself surrounded by people, nature, and peace: things that help her explore her inner world and express it.
One of those places is Thailand. Time and again, Liisa has found herself returning to this vibrant and warm country. So, she set a goal for herself: to spend a few months there, in 2023, reflecting the charm of this place that gives her a sense of safety.

And so, she discovered that again and again, her Alter Ego takes on different forms during her travels. Thailand is known for its abundance of dogs. On every corner, you’ll find stray dogs, village guardians, or colorful pets. While many people fear dogs, especially free-roaming ones: Thailand is a great example of how dogs can be an important part of society. A kind of symbiosis has formed between people and dogs. These incredibly intelligent, independent animals, who still crave human affection, show us how vital our connection with animals and nature truly is.

Having spent most of her life in a city, Liisa strongly feels the contrast between these two worlds: humans need to be close to nature. Although capitalism consistently tries to widen that gap, science shows that spending time in nature and around domestic animals improves our mental health. And not only does it improve, it helps us understand ourselves better and build deeper relationships with both ourselves and others.

Thailand is a fantastic example of the symbiosis between nature and city life. While business and tourism are prominent, it’s the beauty of nature that casts a calming shadow over everything. We need guardians against the madness of overconsumption and overproduction. Dogs serve as bridges between the city and nature: reminding us of how important it is to care for and protect the natural world around us.
